Forum/Site Status

Postby Gonzo on Fri Jan 11, 2013 11:13 am

My account with GoDaddy expires in March. There was been almost no activity on the forum of late and therefore I've decided to shut it down. If anyone wants their posts or any other posts, I suggest you copy them now. The data base will be backed up and archived but the site will be going away as will the chat.

Those of you who wish to continue chat will find The Crucible on IRC chat, on the DALnet server (/join #TheCrucible). In order to access IRC chat, a client is required. The three I know of are Xchat, mIRC, and Chatzilla plugin for FireFox. Xchat and mIRC both require a license fee, however, it's nominal.

I highly recommend IRC (Internet Relay Chat). It has been around since the start of the Internet and provides thousands of chatrooms (channels) on an unlimited number of topics.

Are you fucking kidding me? I don't like to talk to you guys for free, let alone pay. I would never pay for chat, not much anyways. Not more than ten bucks a month, or so. Not hardly worth more than that. I would miss some people. OK, I'll pay, for a while. Fuckers.

Heh - well, the site may remain, after all. Others have expressed interest in keeping things as they are so we shall see. If I do cancel my account, btw, the chat I'm suggesting is free of charge. IRC has always been free and there is a free version of the client Xchat called Hexchat, which, once set up, is a single click to connect to the server and to TheCrucible chat room.

Keep the site running, I'll take over when you kick the bucket. This is one of those things you're suppose to bequeath to me when you shuffle off your mortal coil.

Yes! Aff is all healed, back up (in more ways than one) and running!

I knew you would do it; Yoga and Meditation are great Mind/Body Coordination experiences.

...you are fully operational and functioning, right? I mean, and I know, you'd never be teaching Yoga and Meditation if you couldn't heal yourself fully, first, correct? It would be a terrible fraud who attempted to teach these marvelous practices yet couldn't demonstrate on themselves what they teach. But that's not you!

No way, Jose'!

Good to see you again Aff, and I enjoy your MOI posts on Facebook.

OK gang - I've bought one more month of time with GoDaddy. The site will now expire 17 May 2013. As stated before, chat will move to IRC on Dalnet, #TheCrucible. This is a firm date. Two threads of the forum will be moved to Kim's provider to continue her trip reports and my blog.

If you want to chat, you will have to acquire mIRC, Chatzilla, Xchat, or the free version of Xchat called Hexchat. Yes, there's a learning curve.

Do you have links to any of these places?

Also, if need be, Gypsy Garden has a chat as well, its free and requires no registration. Y'all could use it if You like, I never do.
