You are more than human. You may not believe it, you may not like it, but it is how it has always been so why should we hide from it?
There are many religions and beliefs all through out our culture which address the idea that our reality is an illusion. The idea of Maya which is found in Buddhism, Hinduism, Janism, Sikhism, Gnosticism and even in Quantum Mechanics with Albert Einstein himself quoting, "Reality is an illusion; albeit a very persistent one." Even Richard Feynman tossed the idea, "We have an illusion that we can do any experiment that we want." And many more quantum physicists address this idea.
There is a lot of supporting evidence in quantum mechanics that is revealing that physical reality is not physical at all, that it may be a hologram or a virtual reality. Modern science is starting to catch up with the esoteric ideas found in many religions... why? Because it is the absolute truth.
Our reality is virtual. It is a simulation. But it's more than just that as you and I exist within it and are ourselves part of reality. There is no doubt that while we are alive and having this experience with reality; there is no permanence in the experience. We age, wither and die. When we die, the stage of life collapses. However, you will find in kind, that there is a continuity of yourself. That death is not the end but a new beginning.
So why is reality virtual? If it is, there must be some evidence revealing that physical matter is not the absolute measure of materialism and that it has a flaw that exposes non-physical attributes. Let's examine this and understand it because this is exactly how reality works.
The first glimpse into the virtual nature of reality comes from particle-wave duality. To fully understand what this enigma is, you need to know that a solid particle such as an electron or photon can be either a solid particle, or a wave (not solid). When the particle is not being observed, it appears as an interference pattern in a state known as superposition. But when it is being observed, this causes quantum decoherence and the interference pattern collapses (as it no longer is observed as evident in the fact it now produces particles in experimentation). The double-slit is famous for revealing this mystery and it troubled Albert Einstein and Richard Feynman so that they make such "absurd" quotes even hinting that reality is an illusion.
It is spooky action from a distance which troubles materialists as it exposes another set of laws which physicists are struggling to understand. Max Tegmark asserts that particle-wave duality is resolved as the known criteria for this to occur is called measurement. When a measurement is taken, particles behave as particles. Even another photon could cause decoherence when it encounters another photon. His way of eliminating the idea that it's not conscious awareness in the human observer causing wave-function collapse. Which is also something that I agree with.
But what Max doesn't understand, nor did Einstein or Feynman is that in a virtual reality this behavior is expected. If we look at particle-wave duality with the model of a virtual reality and apply the Law of Information Conservation - which is the system does not need to render all the data rather only the data that is being accessed.
Then we have at the quantum level a particle which is information (wave) that is not being access, so the system is not rendering the particle. When the information that this particle represents is being accessed, the system must "RENDER" the particle. The measurement problem is solved in virtual reality theory elegantly. Information that is not being accessed is not rendered. When information is being accessed, it is rendered. How this equates to particles is observed in the double-slit in how measuring the information of the particle causes the system to render the particle.
There is no refuting argument that I know of which can nullify this theory as virtual reality theory not only addresses particle/wave behaviors but predicts them. Virtual reality theory also predicts other spooky-action from a distance effects such as quantum teleportation, quantum entanglement.
