If you stopped seeing the world in terms of what you like and what you dis-like, and saw things for what they truly are, in themselves, you will find a great deal more peace in your life.

" When did everyone become a self absorbed prick and ok with it?" Pure ego and judgement.

"Is that what DJM was trying to get CC to understand?" Who cares? Whatever transpired between them is none of our concern.

"I dont think so." Really?

"Where is the line between acting, being a doormat, and being genuine?" More belief, all of it. Assumptions as to 'where,' 'that there is a line,' 'acting,' 'being a doormat,' and 'being genuine.'

More attention here: Ask yourself, "Who am I?"

Then, the above line from the Mentalist will come in to focus.

Have a nice day.

As with just about everything else, imo, it's a thought process. How do you be "true to yourself"? How do you know what that is? You just know, somehow - you know when you're faking it, you know when you're genuine, you know when you're lying to yourself as well.

We also talked about acts, putting on acts, or masks, however you want to put it...as well as being taught not to be genuine as children, to "act" normal, behave, etc. So we learn to act in ways that we get rewarded for, and not to act in ways that result in some form of punishment.

Just as the business of being enlightened is not a state that is achieved, but rather something we go in and out of, we also have the ability to do a variety of acts, and once in a while to be genuine, but not all the time. I don't think its either possible or necessary.

And in re being genuine with others, that implies you put your perceptions and feelings about them into words, not always a good idea, imo...besides, they know anyway.

This is the thing Im talking about...in terms of like and dis-like. I do get a say in what I like and dislike. We all do. Of course the tough guy rhetoric sounds good but if you really think about it we all get choices, what we do like or what we do not like. I believe that if I act like I have no preference then I cannot be genuine. The world is a stage and I am trying to find genuine...again. I think this is another level of non dualism. Acting=supressing, supressing=turmoil. I actually feel really good about life, and peaceful. Im just asking the questions out loud.

Reminds me of the old joke about the guy having constant troubles...exasperated, he cries out, "Why me, God? Why me?"

Clouds part, thunderous voice replies: "Because You Piss Me Off...."
