Tiger, tiger, burning bright

Damned animal dreams...last night, a beauty...a full grown Bengal tiger...for some stupid reason I lobbed a piece of wood at him. He had been standing, looking at me. The piece of wood didn't hit him...it landed in front of him, but he reacted anyway, and began walking toward me, looking me right in the eye, unblinkingly. I tried backing away, tossed another piece of wood, and he just kept coming. That one got my attention and I woke up. I tried unsuccessfully to rerun the dream, to have a better outcome, like standing my ground (I would have been eaten, I was sure), or trying to communicate with him...didn't seem possible...he seemed to have a single thought in mind, and it was not to communicate.

May I suggest,.......if, a similar dream occurs again, the "correct" response would be, "neutrality",.............ie; stand still,.....do,nt look it in the eye,.......let it approach, and do,nt move,..............I'm willing to bet, as usual, it will then, become affectionate

According to CC, if you then, gaze fixedly at it, it will turn into a ball of energy,...................never managed to remember to do that part, myself.
Wish you luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. The sucker scared the crap out of me.

I'm going to try that too, should I dream like that again; thanks, seren! Over the years, I've had similar dreams, with lions. At first, I would run away. Somehow always managed to get away, as if the lion (sometimes was lioness, sometimes both) wasn't really trying that hard to catch me, (i'm not that fast a runner!) but I was terrified!
Then slowly, I got less scared. Then came the first dream in which I just stood still and let it come and sniff me. Was still scared but somehow knew that I had to make 'as if' I wasn't scared. Took every ounce of will power I had not to run, though by that time was too late.
In the one dream though, there was another animal watching from the side, not a lion but also one of the big cat family. The 'watcher' was there to protect me (somehow I understood that), though I did wonder how much protection it could offer when the lion sniffing me was right up against me! I have never been that close to a lion before (only a lion cub irl)

Some shamans say that to be eaten, though or torn apart by a power animal is a way to fully absorb the medicine of the animal.

I dunno if that happens every time you gaze fixedly at one. ???? I've dreamed with animals a number of times and in all my animal dreams that I can recall the animal has only turned into a ball of energy once and that was an awake dream at that.

Anyone else?

I've seen people turn into balls a few times though.

HI G,........ yea, sure are scary fuckers,..........I think, thats the idea,................ie; "they" reflect our own ideas and fears regarding them. Detachment, sems to work best, ,............treat it, as if, it were a "real" animal, that could easily kill you, yet, do,nt, react to it.

Hi Daph,..................I, once had a dream, where, I was sitting in a posh hotel bar(definitely, dreaming!), when, in walked the wierdest, scariest, half-dog, half-big cat,...........quite simply, the most fearsome, feral creature I have ever encountered.

Everyone in the bar fled, except me,.........I, stood up, but, did,nt move,.............just kept looking into the distance(as, I would, with a "real" wild animal). It, walked right up to me, growling menacingly, and then, on getting no reaction, began to rub itself against my leg.
Tentatively, I reached down to stroke it a little, which, it did,nt seem to mind,............then, it moved away into another part of the hotel. I, followed,.......only to discover, it had transformed into a wierd "alien" baby, which "girned" for a bit, before, vanishing, right in front of me!

IOBs, definitely seem eager to instigate relationships with us,...........question is, should we?(in my case, the question is moot,as, the deed is done)

BTW, G,...........in your case, the "knocking on the door" seems to be becoming rather insistent. I have little doubt, that, if, you were to open the door and offer a sincere welcome,............."results", would not be slow to arrive.

I have noticed, some, who post here, appear to talk of Dreaming very casually,.........ie; as if, it was easy for them. If so, why, do,nt they educate us numbskulls about IOBs, and how to deal with them?
Such empirical advice, would be worth a thousand speculations about, energies, intent, chakras, etc.

If you're referring to me, I wasn't meaning to imply any of y'all were numbsculls. Just sharing experiences and attemtping to show that mine don't always agree with CC's.

How to deal with IBs? I think each situation is different and calls for unique ways of handling them. Sometimes it's cool to talk to them, sometimes cool to run away and sometimes they can give such awesome gifts, secrets if you are calm enough to wait and see. imo The secret is not to fear.

If this is directed to me, I've not been able to do that, despite efforts to do so. That sucker is large, unblinking, yellow, single minded, and I'm convinced he is going to get my ass. It remains a work in progress.

You identified it as a 'he,' but tigers have feminine power - tiger seems to be your own inner feminine power. A part of you.

I see what you're saying, however, there was no question in the dream the tiger was a male....just as there was no question an ally, WHN, several years ago was female. There was nothing she said that could be construed as being female, however, I knew she was, just as I knew that cat was a male.

I know male cat - you are male after all - but the tiger has feminine power - male or female its still there.

Hi, Blackcrow,............sorry, no,........I was,nt refering to you.

I agree with you that the key is, to have no fear,.................... and total confidence, and also, to "project" a sincere invitation and welcome.

I'm not sure about the being eaten part, though, I've encountered the idea before,..........seems, a bit, overdramatic, to me. In my case, they only bit my finger, which, is actually a sign of affection in cats, and there was no pain,...............just, panic!

That reminds me, I had an IB dream I wanted to mention to you two or three nights ago. There was an IB dog in it. I was walking down a sidewalk, not a lot of people around, but a few and some cars.

I saw a huge dog that I recognized to be an IB and my first instinct was to avoid it. I thought maybe he hadn't seen me so tried to stay out of his way. I tried to make myself look small and when the dog came up to me I hoped he would go right by. But he saw me and I wasn't scared, but more like anxious. I was thinking of our convo here and wondering what the best course of action would be. I considered befriending him, so put my left hand down to pat his head.

Then suddenyly fear gripped me, I thought I had made a huge mistake. This dog's head was the size of a pony's head, very large dog!
I worried for a moment that he would eat me or at least bite me, but all happened so fast I couldn't do much about it. Breathed and tried to calm, then saw I was suddenly holding a small white side plate. I offered the animal the plate instead of my arm and he ate it. Put the whole thing in his mouth, swallowed it whole.

Odd.

but he was very friendly to me after that, so I wondered if maybe the gift giving was key. (lolI know it;s a strange gift to give a (IB) dog.
