The spirit of Zen is the state of no-mind (mushin.) The no-mind is the mental state which is disturbed by nothing. The free state of mind is the mind of Zen.

I prefer, the opposite but with one caveat...and that is to be aware that one has things in mind and mind in things. To be fully in the moment requires, imo, mind being IN things. We are perceivers, as don Juan said, and as such, in order to perceive, mind is required. No mind=no perception.
