Dreaming, OOBE's, the Double, etc., etc.

~

Just a quick note as I'm busy as a big dog here...

Looking at Monroe's work and Castaneda's work, very interesting.

On another discussion group it was mentioned how 'different' CC's talk of Dreaming and the Double is from Monroe's OOBE's.

Hmmm......

I've always like the analogy of the AP. Shifts or movements of it determine our perception. People's needs and wants and desires are what they are: The Warriors Way from CC's, assisting the 'dead' move on after death seemed to be Monroe's.

What I seem to see is a labeling issue; one says OOBE, one says Dreaming. From what both Monroe and CC mention of the Double, seems the same exact thing, regardless of the manner in which it was achieved. (Both seem similiar as well.)

We have the AP; shift it, we are asleep, move it or shift it a bit further, we're Dreaming lucidly. Move it more and the Double is created.

If one doesn't care for the AP analogy, just use perception or consciousness. Obviously there's a kazillion of these, and how humans label it, or their motivation for doing so may be much, much different.

Or ARE they different? (Maybe only the Shadow knows???)

Any other opinions on this?

That is just how I've understood it, based of my own experience. I see nothing but similarities between Monroe's and Castaneda's accounts. Both seem to corroborate the other. Most of the spiritual confirmation expressed to people now a days comes from everyone plagiarizing the explorations of the early mystics. Monroe's discoveries were scientific, Castaneda's were dumb luck. Both approached the unknown with a beginners mind and that was the source of the originality.

If sorcery has a unit of measurement it's the double. Using Don Juan and Don Genero as our examples then the qualifying characteristic of a "Sorcerer" is the ability to move the assemblage point into the position of the double. I interpret this as the ability to go Astral or induce Lucid dreaming at will. To the point that you (your awareness) resides more, or feel's more at home as your energy body, dreaming body, double than when residing in your physical state as the condition of the average man habitually dictates.
