In the above comments I use the term 'perception' several times. Please allow me to clarify, and as an example, I'll compare it to Carlos Castaneda's work.
Based on what CC wrote, 'looking' is the tonal view (first attention) of the world, seeing was the nagual view (second attention), the energetic essence of what 'is.' (No-thing.)
Thus, the two words, 'perception' and 'looking' are the same within the first attention. It's the tonal side of life; the seperation, the funny side of life. Even don Juan commented that while looking, the world made him laugh. When 'seeing,' everything was the same, no emotion.
'Attention' is the ability to fixate the AP in either 'looking' or 'seeing.'
'Attentive capacity' is a unit of measuring, duration, of attention. Capacity is the duration of attention.
Thus, when don Juan mentioned that CC did not have the 'power' to hold the second attention, he was saying, "CC did not have the 'attentive capacity' to maintain no-mind, no-thing. Don Juan also mentioned thousands of times to CC, "increase your power." Thus, increase your attentive capacity. The Tonal and the Nagual. Clean the island of Tonal; get your first attention in order with power or attentive capacity. The Nagual - One not two, also requires power or attentive capacity to glimpse it (no-mind) and sustain it as a measure of duration.
