Who was that mask lady?

Postby Gonzo on Sun Apr 29, 2012 7:19 am

I met a woman who handed me a rather grotesque full head mask made of metal, with a long twisted pointed nose. She took me upstairs to an oddly empty room, except their were small figures embossed in the walls. I walked around the room, pointing the nose of the mask at the figures thinking some how some power in the mask would bring the figures to life. As I circled the room, there was an odd whooshing, the sound so many talk about when leaving the body for astral travel. But, as I circled, passing each figure, nothing happened. I wondered if the room was used for some sort of rites, and whether the woman was a sorcerer. Then others began to arrive, some in rather bizarre costumes...they all seemed to know each other and I wondered further if there were going to be some arcane rituals. I realized finally they were all vendors of gee gaws, cheap junk and CDs, and I was watching the setup of a rather shabby indoor flea market.

I had been handed another "head" by someone, and I realized I had been watching the people and the setup and now didn't know where the heads were. For some reason I was responsible for them. In a bit of a panic, I looked around for the woman who had brought me there, found her in a side room talking with others, and told her I couldn't find the heads, thinking someone had stolen them. She rather calmly said, oh, they're over there by the planter. I turned where she indicated, and there they were.

Then an odd thing occurred to me...I had thought her to be a powerful being, an adept of some sort and I realized she was empty. What an odd word...empty. That meant she was to everyone only what they thought. Interesting how that notion fits with so many teachings.

Kim reminded me of how many times Michael had referred to himself as a mirror, and then, how often that analogy is used in teachings...that as with the woman, the mirror is empty...makes one wonder about "no mind". If don Juan and the others were really mirrors, where did the "power" come from? (The old Zen koan...:It's something that comes from outside.")
Is that so?

Yes! I've been really thinking a lot about this lately. Many aspects of it, but also specifically, if we tell a person they are simply "projecting' which lord knows, humans do a lot of. How awesome is it though, to be that mirror, that vessel through which another person can choose to see himself (or not -- depending). Really it's a powerful thing, to be this mirror, this tool.
