Hi All,

This Catasticta sp. was at Folha Seca south of Ubatuba, São Paulo. Does anyone know the species? Thanks,

Rich

maybe C.huebneri, we had that species in SE Brazil. There aren't many Catasticta species there.

C. heubneri does not occur in SE Brazil. This one probably is C. bithys.

In the publication Butterflies of Tres Picos in Trop Lep Res 21(2):66-79, 2011 by Bizarro, he shows C.huebneri on his list, as well as C.bithys. Maybe he's wrong? Does C.huebneri fly in other parts of Brazil? Thanks.

I'm not 100% sure and you may be right as well. I never saw C. heubneri here in southeast, but I really don't know if it occurs here or where else in Brazil, as I rarely look for butterflies in north of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. C. bithys is a common find in most Atlantic Forest hills, and Ubatuba is a low altitude locality.

Regards

Gustavo
